A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Keratoconus, an eye disease that caused my eyesight to decline quickly. I had a procedure called Corneal Cross-linking that stopped the progression of the disease and now I wear special contact lenses to see. My dad’s friend Sean surprised me with a digital camera and some amazing lenses and I fell in love with photography. Some days I can see better than others, and this camera lets me focus the eye piece separately from the lens so I can get the shots that I want.
It started with some trips through downtown LA, taking pictures of the skyscrapers at night. Then we walked through the city during the day looking for iconic architecture to shoot. We also drive to the beach when the sun is about to set. I’m thankful that I can see now and that I have a treatment plan that allows me to see and appreciate things that I can photograph. Maybe this last few years made me more aware of things around me because they became hard to see?
I designed my logo for C2. It is a combination of the letter C from my first name (Colin) and the lense aperature opening to show my passion for photography. C2 can also be See too. It's a connection to my last couple of years living with Keratoconus.
I've always loved art. I have had some experience in illustration and digital design. I am hoping to combine my new love for photography with illustration and start a creative company.
